Interpreting the Star Tarot Card
An introduction to the meaning of the Star tarot card
The Star represents the soothing of the soul healed of all worldly anxieties, all pains of the past and worries of the present are replaced by the stronger claims of protection and security, as well as a heightened and genuine understanding that the universe is working in our favour. The many winding and intertwining paths of life appear to untangle briefly, decisions are made with confidence and a clear mind, and promising opportunities arise in mostly every situation. When the clouds have drifted away and the sun has set the Star appears in the night-sky, the brilliant guiding light of which empowering the human soul now stricken with confidence and reassurance, wilful to travel with the Star as an eternal cosmic check-point to follow by.
William Shakespeare referred to the North Star as "the star to every wandering bark" as the directing point of reference for voyaging sailors, the Star tarot card embodies that same constant quality of direction, an always present compass which we may feel safe to use at any time for guidance. However, the Star is not exclusively referring to the Star of higher powers, for in our very souls we carry our own inner star, a guiding light which manifests as intuition and self-confidence.
Embracing the Star means summoning forth total trust in the universe and in ourselves to decide our own path, the latter being especially important, expressed beautifully in the words of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke: "a billion stars go spinning through the night, blazing high above your head. But in you is the presence that will be, when all the stars are dead." Our own inner light, if followed honestly and confidently, will always lead us into futures of joy, and warmth, and happiness.
